Winter Ligths on Brønshøj Water Tower

Light in the Winter Darkness: A Greeting from Brønshøj Water Tower

Every winter, long chains of light are illuminated along the many columns of Brønshøj Water Tower, highlighting its unique architecture and spreading warmth and safety across the area. This gesture serves as a beacon for the many passersby on their way to or from school and work.

Perched on one of Copenhagen’s highest points, the 34-meter-tall building stands as a pioneering work of reinforced concrete, once used to distribute drinking water to the city. Today, it serves as a cultural hub and a landmark for the district—a vital addition to the city’s skyline, adorned with its beautiful towers.

The Venue

Brønshøj Water Tower is a cathedral for light and sound enthusiasts—a raw, unpolished concrete frame that attracts a growing number of artists seeking something beyond the white cube of a traditional gallery or venue.

The tower has hosted a wide array of events, from tea ceremonies and ambient music to black metal, avant-garde performances, contemporary art, new circus, vocal music, opera, classical concerts, theater, and architectural exhibitions. It is always created in collaboration with Copenhagen’s diverse cultural creators and international partners, who have fallen in love with its unique space.

Brønshøj Water Tower has become a place for immersive experiences where sound, light, body, and architecture converge in extraordinary ways.
