B*lumen

Blikstille
In collaboration with the Copenhagen Light Festival, blikstille.dk presents works by artist Dorte Persson. The works that are part of the B*lumen collection are upcycled in vintage, new and discarded glass, which in interaction with the light is given new, vibrant life and expression.
The works are inspired by the nature of the theater that Dorte Persson has been a part of as a ballet contemporary dancer throughout her entire life. Light is set and thus the focus is on crystalline structures, shapes and colors that send thoughts in the direction of ballet and opera costumes, dream scenarios and fairy tales. All embraced by the overall great story and the message to take the climate into account. Beauty, humor, hope and new stories arise from experimental compositions of previous generations’ used, past and discarded glass. The once fine cake plate from the town hall is now the base of the elephant’s temple and the old sangria bowl, which no one will recognize anymore, has found its new calling in life as Teletubbie.
Behind the constellations there are also questions and images about how the historical matters are relevant to the present and how we will all may think creative and in new ways, in a new world with many challenges.

The artist
Dorte Persson has been an artist throughout her life, first as a dancer and choreographer and, since 2000, as a light artist with exhibitions at Charlottenborg, Kunsthal Nikolaj, Brandts Klædefabrik, Silkeborg Bad, among others. Dorte participated in the Copenhagen Light Festival 2024 with the work Baroque Notation, which, like this year’s piece, references her earlier artistic career in theater.
The works are for sale and you can see more of them at blikstille.dk
