Ariel

#81 Ariel

By: Maria Josefsen, Camilla Harbo Lippert, Caroline Thelin, Eva Bryld, Ayushmaan Bordoloi, Lukas Shaghashvili & Tao Højgaard v. IT University of Copenhagen

Ariel is a 5-minute light installation representing the slow death of colorful corals due to rising ocean acidity.
The light visualizes NASA data on global surface temperatures over the past 145 years. As temperatures rise, warmer water absorbs more CO₂, making the sea more acidic. As humans are exploiting resources from the earth, the colorful world as we know it, is slowly fading away.
